Weaving the Landscape

Highlighting the art of 'point and bobbin' lace making (once a widely practiced craft from the Puy De Sancy region), this lace flower symbolizes the local wild flower meadows in this region of France.
It took one month, to weave 5000 linear feet of rope, using techniques learned from a local lace museum and school.
The pattern is derived by combining traditional lace-making techniques with abstract natural patterns.
The public were invited to participate in the lace making and though the shared experience of making, we connected with a community and their landscape.
